Delhi Election : EC is doing its best to improve the voter turnout
The Election Commission (EC) is doing its best to improve the voter turnout in the Delhi elections.
By using an animated film at the Delhi pavilion, in IITF, the EC authorities hope that every visitor turns up as a voter, to exercise his right to vote.
Assembly poll turnouts in Delhi have been falling steadily for the past 15 years, from 65 per cent in 1993 to 49 per cent in 1998 to 47 per cent in 2003. Only 43 per cent voted in last year’s municipal elections.
The Election Commission is trying to target its ‘Pappu can’t vote message’ at the huge crowds going for the trade fair in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. They are hoping that Delhi has no ‘Pappus’ on November 29.
