Delhi Elections : Delhi is all geared up for elections on Saturday
Under a tight security blanket, in the backdrop of the Mumbai terror attacks, Delhi will go to polls tomorrow to elect 69 of its 70 legislators.
About 70,000 security personnel will be deployed to ensure free and fair elections to the Legislative Assembly.
A total of 10.7 million voters are eligible to decide the electoral fortunes of 863 candidates.
Election to the Rajinder nagar seat has been postponed to December 13 following the sudden demise of BJP candidate and sitting MLA Puran Chand Yogi.
Among the main players, while the Congress is contesting all the seats, the BJP is in the fray in 65 constituencies, leaving four seats to its ally Akali Dal.
The Bahujan Samaj Party, which is trying to open its account in the Delhi Assembly, is contesting all the 69 seats going to polls.
A total of 79 observers have been deputed by the Election Commission to oversee the elections.
Polling in the 69 Assembly constituencies will be held in 10,985 booths located in 2509 premises.
The EC has identified 346 polling stations as hypersensitive and 1218 others as sensitive, out of a total of 11,044 booths.
Counting of votes will take place on December 8. The term of the present Legislative Assembly of Delhi is expiring on December 17.
