Azharuddin not to contest election, but will campaign for Congress
Former India cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin, who recently joined the Congress party, has not found a place in the list of candidates finalised by the party for all 42 Lok Sabha seats from the state.
The former cricketer told media persons that he would like to focus on campaigning for the party rather than contesting elections. “I will abide by whatever decision the party leadership takes,” he said.
There was speculation that Azharuddin would get the party ticket for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency but the party leadership reportedly decided to re-nominate sitting MP Anjan Kumar Yadav.
