Delhi Elections : Sajjan and Tytler’s candidature in doubt
Apparently concerned over the political fallout of hurling of shoe at Home Minister P Chidambaram, Congress indicated, it was open to review the candidatures of Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, who were facing allegations of involvement in the anti-Sikh riots.
Tytler, a sitting MP contesting from the North-East Delhi constituency, “probably” had a hand in organising the anti-Sikh riots, the Nanavati Commission had said.
Tytler has been given a clean chit by the CBI in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, absolving him of any involvement in the riots. The acquital sparked off protests in Delhi and Punjab.
In fact, some within the Congress too have been pressing for denial of tickets to Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, who is also accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
