Delhi Elections : Congress may dump Jagdish Tytler
Congress leader Jagdish Tytler has been asked by the party to withdraw his candidature from the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to mediapersons after the decision, Tytler accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Akali Dal
of running a vicious campaign against him.
He said that he was trying to meet Sonia Gandhi and said it was his moral responsibility not to embarrass his party.
Congress leader Jagdish Tytler said on Thursday that he “was not going to pursue” his Lok Sabha candidature and left the final decision to party president Sonia Gandhi.
“I don’t think I should fight (the election),” Mr. Tytler told a news conference.
“If my stepping down helps, I will do so. The party is bigger than myself,” he said.
The Congress leader also pointed that he got a clean chit from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) even when BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani was the Home Minister.
