Delhi Elections : Congress drops Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar
The Congress Party finally decided to withdraw ‘84 anti-Sikh riots accused Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar from the election race. The party was forced to take this decision because of growing sentiments among the Sikhs even thought it considers both Tytler and Sajjan innocent.
Tytler and Kumar have opted out of elections keeping the party’s interests in mind, announced senior Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi in Delhi on Thursday.
Sikh groups in Punjab and New Delhi after the CBI said it didn’t have enough evidence to prosecute Tytler for the riots had embarrassed the Congress.
The protests gained momentum after a Sikh journalist threw a shoe at Home Minister P Chidambaram to protest against the CBI giving a clean chit to Tytler.
