Delhi Elections : Sibal alleges, BJP candidate Gupta violated Model Code
The war of words is heating up in Chandni Chowk. Congress candidate and sitting MP from the seat Kapil Sibal has shot off a letter to Election Commission, alleging violation of model code of conduct by his BJP opponent Vijender Gupta.
Showing a video clip, Sibal alleged that the BJP camp was trying to lure voters by distributing cheques of Rs 1,000 each to senior citizens under the MCD’s pension reforms scheme. Gupta is the chairman of civic body’s standing committee.
Sibal released this CD to the press and alleged that Gupta the chairman of the MCD standing committee had broken the model code of conduct.
Allegedly, his wife told people that her husband’s signature had been instrumental in people getting more pension. She also displayed his poster. Sibal said this amounted to a violation of the poll code.
Reacting to Sibal’s allegations, Vijender Gupta said: “By writing a letter to the EC, Sibal is behaving more like a lawyer than a candidate. He wants to fight elections through court rooms. As far as I know I have not violated any code of conduct.”

The above quote is hilarious. By the way Obama won a state Senate seat by challenging the opponent’s valid number of signature, as a consequence his opponent did not have the correct number of ballots to be on the ballot. Thus Obama ran unopposed and won the election.
To be successful in political campaigns over a period of time requires the party/individual(s) to be fair and honest.
