Delhi Elections : Kanwar Sain elected as the new Mayor of Delhi
BJP councillor Dr. Kanwar Sain was on Thursday elected the new Mayor of Delhi, defeating his rival Darshana Jatav of Congress by 109 votes.
While Sain, who represents Vishwash Nagar in the MCD House, secured 182 votes, the Congress candidate and Bhogal councillor Jatav managed only 73 votes in the elections held during a meeting of Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
Mr. Sain, who will be the 23rd Mayor of the city, will replace Arti Mehra, who has served two terms as the Mayor. As per rules, this year the post is reserved for scheduled castes.
