Delhi Elections : B L Sharma Prem or Prem Singh Sher
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate from North-East, B L Sharma ‘Prem’, a two-time MP, had quit the BJP in 1997 to join VHP and had disassociated himself from active politics. He held important posts such as national secretary in the VHP. Sharma also known as “Prem Singh Sher” is the founder of Akhand Hindusthan Morcha and currently member of VHP international advisory committee. His exit from politics in 1997 was equally eventful; he left claiming that “politics is like prostitution”.
He resigned from party membership too and retired to Haridwar, converting to Sikhism a few months later.B L Sharma Prem embraced the “Khalsa panth” in 1999, He also changed his name ‘Prem Singh Sher’ and his wife Krishna Sharma Prem was also baptised Krishan Kaur.
